The one and only Patrik Laine continues to surprise in Montreal – and this time, it’s not for a spectacular goal or a trade rumor.

But rather for a simple gesture observed this morning in Brossard that says a lot about his commitment.

“How can you be effective on the ice against the best with a sprained knee?

How can you be effective on the ice when you’re a shooter with a fractured finger?

How can you be effective on the ice when you have a sports hernia in your abdominal?

It’s not true that Patrik Laine is a bad person; it’s not true that he doesn’t care about the team. He even took Oliver Kapanen under his wing at the start of the season.”

– Anthony Martineau

Between speculation about his mental health, doubts about his motivation, and even suspicions regarding the nature of his injury, we’ve heard it all.

But today, the footage captured in Brossard tells a different story – and I’m really glad to see it and share it with you.

While still injured, Laine took the time to attend the Canadiens’ practice, closely watching his teammates.

Patrik Laine shows his commitment to the Montreal Canadiens despite his injury

As Martineau showed, Laine was watching every sequence carefully, talking with the assistants, and staying engaged during the session.

“Patrik Laine, the guy who doesn’t give a damn about the team (according to some), is watching the practice attentively from the players’ bench.” wrote Martineau on X.

In another clip shared by Renaud Lavoie, he’s even seen helping Dobson with a stick change.

I find it really positive to see an injured player staying this close to the group.

In my opinion, he can become a major asset again if he can stay healthy – and his gesture today gives me even more hope!
