The Pittsburgh Penguins opened their first month of the 2025-26 season with an 8-2-2 record — one of the best October starts for the team in franchise history.

With 18 points in the month of October, it was a tie for the second best starting month in franchise history.

In 2009-10 when the Penguins were trying defend their Stanley Cup title from the previous year, the team went 11-3 in the month of October with 22 points.

In October of 2013, the Penguins went 9-4 with 18 points for the month.

Through the Penguins’ 12 games, Evgeni Malkin sits tied for third in the NHL with 17 points. Sidney Crosby sits tied for fifth in the NHL with 15 points.

Malkin’s 14 assists are tied for most in the NHL.
