The Detroit Red Wings are hungry for a playoff spot, and one player who could help deliver that is Alex Tuch, a forward of the Buffalo Sabres.

He’s scored 11 points (4-7) in 11 games with the Sabres and is currently a sought-after trade chip.

The team stands at 6th in the Atlantic Division, with a 4-4-2 record and a bourgeoning lineup.

As young players continue to trickle in, GM Kevyn Adams could find use of Tuch by other means, as a trade chip.

Where Does Alex Tuch Fit Into The Detroit Red Wings Lineup

With a total of $13 million in cap space available for the Red Wings, they could shoulder his cap hit easily.

Adding Tuch would propel the team into the playoff discussion without question, as he’s a former 30+ goal scorer who tallied a career-high 79 points with the Buffalo Sabres in 2022-23.

He currently plays on the 2nd line and 1st power play unit for the Sabres, with Jiri Kulich, Jack Quinn, and Bowen Byram.

It doesn’t seem too far-fetched to think he could slot in along the same lines as units in Detroit. That is, if Steve Yzerman considers making a trade for him.

Though the team might have to take a hit in the prospect pool, the long-term outlook with Tuch in the lineup is a playoff run.

Should Steve Yzerman do it?
