A National Hockey League insider has given a big injury update this week regarding Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes and when he could return to the lineup. It’s been an injury-filled start to the 2025-26 season for the Vancouver Canucks and among those currently on the sidelines is captain Quinn Hughes, who suffered a lower-body injury against the Montreal Canadiens and has missed the team’s last three games against the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues, respectively.
“Head coach Adam Foote told reporters Tuesday that Hughes’s injury, which he only said is a lower-body issue, would be evaluated further Wednesday morning, before the Canucks head out on a road trip that will take them to St. Louis, Minnesota and Nashville.” Patrick Johnston of The Province said earlier this week.
Hughes didn’t travel with the Canucks to St. Louis for Thursday’s game, but it does appear that he could be getting close to a return, potentially on the team’s current road trip.

On Thursday’s edition of Donnie & Dhali, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal gave an injury update on Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes where he shared that the blueliner has been dealing with a groin issue.
Dhaliwal went on to share that he is close to returning to the lineup and could potentially be back for Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Wild or Monday’s clash with the Nashville Predators.
“Quinn Hughes. Obviously he’s missed two games, Don. That’s the last guy you want out of your lineup because he’s the best player. He’s got a groin injury, but it is close…I’m told it’s a groin injury, but he’s close and like Patrik Allvin said yesterday, he could hop on a plane and go join them either in Minnesota or Nashville. But it is a groin injury.” Dhaliwal said.
Hughes, a native of Orlando, Florida, has dealt with his fair share of injury issues in 2025, one of which kept him from representing the United States at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Getting Hughes back in the lineup, whether it’s Saturday or Monday, or back on home ice next Wednesday against Chicago, will be a major boost for Adam Foote’s group and he’ll certainly help them remain in the mix for the spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs as we enter the second month of the NHL’s 2025-26 season.
