Artemi Panarin appears to be on his way out of New York, and now the Rangers star is seemingly seeking the biggest deal possible in free agency.

This season hasn’t been a great one thus far for the New York Rangers, and with the team making plenty of changes in the off-season, it doesn’t bode well for the future of the organization.

One player they’ll need to make a major decision on is pending free agent Artemi Panarin, and if he does become available via trade, there will be plenty of teams out there lining up to pursue the veteran star.

Elliotte Friedman Reveals Panarin’s Free Agency Plans

Whether he gets to free agency from the Rangers or moved during the season, it appears that no extension is on the way for the Russian winger, as he is set to be one of, if not the most coveted names in free agency in the summer of 2026.

Now, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed his plans for free agency on the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, and unsurprisingly, the veteran is looking to cash in.

Panarin is going to go for the biggest deal he can get.

In his career with New York, Panarin has 89 or more points in six of seven full seasons (with 58 in 42 games of the Covid shortened season), and while he doesn’t look as dynamic in 2025/26, with a playoff team around him, he’s proven how valuable he can be.

Ultimately though, he’s struggled in the post-season, and that may hold some teams back from offering him a massive deal, but with few other big names set to hit free agency, there’s going to be a team offering Panarin something massive in free agency.
