The Chicago Blackhawks (5-4-2) play the second game of their long road trip against the Edmonton Oilers (5-4-3) on Saturday night at Rogers Place.
Last time out, the Blackhawks lost for the second time in their last three games, falling 6-3 to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. The loss marked the first time the Blackhawks have been defeated by more than two goals this season. Connor Bedard tallied two primary assists to extend his point streak to three games, now giving him a team-high 14 points (6G, 8A) through 11 contests. Connor Murphy also picked up his first two points of the year (both assists), while Teuvo Teravainen, Alex Vlasic, and Andre Burakovsky scored the team’s goals.
The Oilers are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Rangers in their last outing on Thursday. Connor McDavid was held without a point for just the third time this season, while Darnell Nurse (2G) and Matthew Savoie were responsible for the Oilers’ offensive output. Adam Henrique, Leon Draisaitl, Jack Roslovic, and Isaac Howard each recorded one assist on the night. Edmonton has now dropped six of its past nine contests coming into Saturday.
Here’s everything to note before puck drops at 9:00 p.m. CT in Edmonton.
Blackhawks Regular Season Notes (Last Five Games)
Connor Bedard wouldn’t be denied in overtime, as he set up Ryan Donato for the game-winning goal to beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1. Here are 10 takeaways from the Blackhawks’ third win in their last four games.
Another game, another game-winning goal for Ryan Donato. The Blackhawks scored with under a minute remaining in the third period against the Tampa Bay Lightning to earn their fourth win in the last five games.
The Blackhawks’ five-game point streak ended in a sleepy 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Connor Bedard scored early to give Chicago the lead, but Los Angeles responded with three unanswered goals over the final two periods.
Connor Bedard has taken his game to another level so far in his third NHL campaign. Bedard scored his first NHL hat trick & potted his 50th career goal to lead the Blackhawks to a 7-3 win over the Ottawa Senators.
The young Blackhawks’ blue line was torched by the Jets’ top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi in a 6-3 loss in Winnipeg. Jonathan Toews tallied an assist and got the win in his first matchup against the team he captained to three Stanley Cups.

Dickinson had to exit another game early on Thursday in Winnipeg, which is the third time that’s happened already this season. He wasn’t on the ice for practice on Friday, likely suggesting that he won’t be available against the Oilers.
Fortunately, Mikheyev looks ready to jump back into the lineup after missing each of the last two games with an upper-body injury. He participated in Friday’s practice and skated on the third line with Donato and Dach. Should Mikheyev be cleared to play in Edmonton, that’s where he’s expected to be slotted.
Sam Lafferty was healthy scratched against the Jets and will likely be an extra once again on Saturday. If both Mikheyev and Dickinson are out, Lafferty will play for the second time in the last three games.
