A tear-dropping scene happened in Anaheim last night, as Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson was honored with a tribute by the Ducks.
John Gibson has been considered one of the best modern goaltenders, who was stuck behind a terrible team during the latter stages of his career in Anaheim.
Now, with his return, the team honored the goaltender who leads the Ducks in games played: 506 with the Ducks.
The crowd would show their appreciation for the legendary goaltender. See the reaction below:
John Gibson’s Return to Anaheim ends in Tears
Unfortunately for Gibson, he couldn’t put a stop to the Ducks, as the “Duck Hunt” failed.
DeBrincat and Raymond would have multi-point nights, adding assists themselves on both goals.
However, it wasn’t good enough for Gibson’s homecoming to be a win, as he’d finish the night with 27 saves on 31 shots against and a .871 save percentage.
The night was emotional for his return home to the West Coast, for which he deserved every honor for giving the Ducks the majority of his prime.
While the team wouldn’t be able to give him the kind of defense and goal support to win the game.
The Red Wings are now 8-4-0 in the Atlantic and remain 1st in the division, for now.
