Fantasy Hockey Injury Report
Tyson Foerster, LW/RW – Philadelphia Flyers
Foerster blocked a shot in the first period against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played the entire game and never missed a shift. Foerster missed Sunday’s game versus the Calgary Flames and is expected to miss a few more. The Flyers will re-evaluate him in 3-4 days.
Owen Tippett, LW, will slot alongside Noah Cates, C, and Bobby Brink, RW, in his place.
Zach Hyman, LW – Edmonton Oilers
There were reports earlier last week that Hyman was nearing a return to the lineup. This included hopes he would play Saturday night. With the most recent injury report, Hyman will miss the Oilers’ next two games. Given the Oilers have three days rest before the Saturday game, he should be considered questionable against the Colorado Avalanche.
Hyman injured his hand in the Stanley Cup playoffs last May and has yet to play a game this season. When he does return, he will return to his routine top-six role alongside Connor McDavid, C.
Pyotr Kochetkov, G – Carolina Hurricanes
Kochetkov has been loaned to the Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, on a conditioning stint.
This is good news for Kochetkov fans as it signals he is nearing a return. He has yet to play for the Hurricanes this season. The Checkers play on Friday, November 8th, and Saturday, November 9th. He will see action in at least one of those games, which means it will be at least another week before Kochetkov rejoins the Hurricanes. Expect Kochetkov to continue challenging Fredrik Andersen, G, for the starting job in the net.
Once the Hurricanes recall Kochetkov, keep your eye on Brandon Bussi, G. If they send him to Charlotte, he will need to clear waivers. In four games, Bussi is 3-1 with a .916 Save Percentage (SV%), and a 2.25 Goals Against Average (GAA). There is a possibility that Bussi gets claimed.
Elias Lindholm, C – Boston Bruins
With nine points in his first 13 games, Lindholm is off to a strong start for the Bruins. That start has come to an abrupt end, suffering a lower-body injury Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres. He is expected to miss ‘a few weeks’ as a result.
Marat Khusnutdinov, C, has taken his spot between Morgan Geekie, LW, and David Pastrnak, RW, on the Bruins’ top line. However, Victor Arvidsson, LW/RW, looks to get the early nod on the top power play unit in his absence. Neither is a strong fantasy option. You’ll find better replacement options on your waiver wire.
Patrick Kane – RW, Detroit Red Wings
A return to Detroit’s lineup does not appear imminent. Kane is expected to miss at least two more games. His primary value is in points leagues and leagues that count power-play points.
Quinn Hughes, D – Vancouver Canucks
Hughes has joined the Canucks on their road trip and could be a game-time decision Monday night against the Nashville Predators. No official word from Canucks head coach, Adam Foote whether Hughes will play or not.
He has been sidelined since October 25th with a lower-body injury. Â Owners are eagerly awaiting his return.
Justin Brazeau, LW/RW – Pittsburgh Penguins
He missed Saturday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres and is listed as day-to-day. Let’s hope this is truly a day-to-day situation and he can keep the momentum going.
Brazeau was drafted in only 0.6% of Fantrax leagues this year. He’s now rostered in 53% of them. Truly one of the biggest early-season surprises, with 12 points in 12 games.
That’s all for this edition of the NHL injury report.
