The Chicago Blackhawks (5-4-3) play the third game of their long six-game road trip against the Seattle Kraken (5-2-4) at Climate Pledge Arena on Monday night.

Last time out, the Blackhawks picked up a point but lost for the third time in their last four games, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Saturday. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl carried the way to victory for Edmonton, as they factored in on all three of the team’s goals, including the overtime winner.

Connor Bedard extended his point streak to four games with a primary assist in Edmonton, which now gives him a team-leading 15 points (6G, 9A) on the season. Andre Burakovsky and Artyom Levshunov also extended their respective point streaks to three games, as they connected on the game-tying goal in the third period.

The Kraken are coming off two consecutive overtime defeats, losing 4-3 to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday and 3-2 New York Rangers on Saturday, with both coming on home ice. Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour were the goal scorers for Seattle against the Rangers on Saturday. The Kraken only have two regulation losses through their first 11 games, but they have lost more games than they’ve won so far this season.

Here’s everything to note before puck drops at 9:00 p.m. CT in Seattle.

Blackhawks Regular Season Notes (Last Five Games)

Another game, another game-winning goal for Ryan Donato. The Blackhawks scored with under a minute remaining in the third period against the Tampa Bay Lightning to earn their fourth win in the last five games.

The Blackhawks’ five-game point streak ended in a sleepy 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Connor Bedard scored early to give Chicago the lead, but Los Angeles responded with three unanswered goals over the final two periods.

Connor Bedard has taken his game to another level so far in his third NHL campaign. Bedard scored his first NHL hat trick & potted his 50th career goal to lead the Blackhawks to a 7-3 win over the Ottawa Senators.

The young Blackhawks’ blue line was torched by the Jets’ top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi in a 6-3 loss in Winnipeg. Jonathan Toews tallied an assist and got the win in his first matchup against the team he captained to three Stanley Cups.

The first point of the six-game road trip was earned, but the Blackhawks lost for a second consecutive contest, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Edmonton Oilers. Connor Bedard extended his point streak, but Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were too much to handle.

***

Dickinson missed Saturday’s game against the Oilers and was absent for practice in Seattle on Sunday. He’ll likely be out of the lineup for a second game in a row against the Kraken.

Greene remained up on the top line with Bedard and Burakovsky during line rushes at practice, and he deserves to stick in that spot with how well he’s fared in the past two games. Burakovsky has really started to click with Bedard, and he’s set to play the Kraken for the first time since they traded him to Chicago this summer. He’s recorded two multi-point performances in three career games against Seattle.

Mikheyev was back in the lineup in Edmonton after missing the previous two games with an upper-body injury. The speedy forward skated on the third line with Donato and Dach, which is where he was slotted again during Sunday’s practice. Mikheyev leads all Blackhawks skaters with 11 points (5G, 6A) in ten career games versus the Kraken.

With head coach Jeff Blashill continuing to roll out an 11F/7D lineup, Sam Lafferty is expected to be the odd man out for the ninth time in the last 10 games.

Projected Kraken Lineup

Projected Goaltending Matchup

Arvid Soderblom (1-1-1, 3.01 GAA, .888 Sv%, 0 SO) vs. Joey Daccord (5-1-3, 2.70 GAA, .904 Sv%, 1 SO)

Soderblom has yet to play during the Blackhawks road trip, which means he’ll likely start in one of the next two games. Spencer Knight has been incredible in his young career against the Vancouver Canucks, whom the Blackhawks face on Wednesday, so I’m guessing that Soderblom makes the start in Seattle on Monday.

Daccord has started nine of the Kraken’s 11 games so far this season, but only one has come in the last six days. The 29-year-old netminder stopped 24 of 27 shots faced in Seattle’s 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Rangers in his most recent appearance on Saturday. Daccord is 4-1-0 with a 1.82 GAA and .930 Sv% in five career outings against Chicago.

2024-25 Results vs. Kraken

The Blackhawks won one of the three matchups with the Kraken in the 2024-25 campaign. The first two contests were both 3-1 finals, while Seattle ran away with the final meeting at the United Center. Chicago is just 4-7-1 in 12 games against the Kraken since they became a franchise in the 2021-22 season.
