Toronto Maple Leafs

Forward William Nylander says he’s ready to return to action when the Maple Leafs take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.

Nylander and forward Steven Lorentz were both on the ice for the team’s gameday skate Monday as both continue to work through injuries.

The 6-foot winger missed the team’s last two games while dealing with a lower-body injury.

He worked on a line with John Tavares and Easton Cowan and appears set to dress Monday night. Lorentz was not part of line rushes as he, Scott Laughton (lower-body injury) and Bobby McMann appear set to be scratches.

Cowan also got bumped up to the top power-play unit on Monday, working with Auston Matthews, Tavares, Morgan Rielly and Nylander. Matthew Knies was on the second unit with Mattias Maccelli, Max Domi, Nick Robertson and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Goaltender Anthony Stolarz was in the starter’s net and figures to get the call against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Washington Capitals/ St. Louis Blues

The Washington Capitals traded veteran defenceman Calle Rosen to the St. Louis Blues for blueliner Corey Schueneman.

Both players have spent this season in the AHL and the Captials said Schueneman will report to the Hershey Bears.

Rosen last played in the NHL with the Blues during the 2023-24 season, posting one assist in six games. He appeared in 49 games with the Blues the previous season, posting eight goals and 18 points. In 93 career NHL games, the 31-year-old has 11 goals and 31 points.

Schueneman, 30, dressed in four games with the Blues last season, failing to record a point. He has two goals and seven points in 35 career NHL games.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Forward Justin Brazeau was the only player missing from Monday’s gameday skate as the Penguins get set to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brazeau, 27, missed Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets with an upper-body injury and is considered to be day-to-day.

The 6-foot-6 winger joined the Penguins on a two-year, $3 million deal in the off-season and has six goals and 12 points in 12 games this season.

Additionally, forward Kevin Hayes was participated in the morning skate without any restrictions.

The 6-foot-3 winger has been out since training camp while dealing with an upper-body injury.

Hayes recorded 13 goals and 23 points in 64 games last season.
