Landon Slaggert has been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs as the Chicago Blackhawks make roster adjustments.

The Chicago Blackhawks made a series of roster moves Monday afternoon, with the newest development being the assignment of forward Landon Slaggert to the Rockford IceHogs.

Timing Tells the Story

Earlier on Monday, the Blackhawks recalled Oliver Moore from Rockford and placed Jason Dickinson on injured reserve. Now they’ve sent Slaggert down to their AHL affiliate.

The moves leave Chicago with just 12 healthy forwards on their NHL roster, although new head coach Jeff Blashill has been utilizing an 11-forward rotation for most nights this season.

Development Opportunity

The assignment comes after Blashill recently indicated that Slaggert needed to elevate his play following his return from a second injury early in the season. The young forward has struggled to find consistency at the NHL level, and a stint in Rockford should provide him with the regular ice time necessary to refine his game.
