Tyson Foerster suffered a lower-body injury Saturday night after blocking a shot in the first period of the Flyers’ 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.
The 23-year-old winger was unavailable Sunday night for the Flyers’ home game against the Flames. On Monday afternoon, he was placed on injured reserve, a move retroactive to Saturday, so he should be out for at least the next three games.
“He’s obviously not going to play the next few games,” head coach Rick Tocchet said before the Flyers’ 2-1 loss to Calgary. “We’ll reevaluate in about three or four days.”
With Foerster on IR, the Flyers brought back defenseman Emil Andrae.
After hobbling up the tunnel, Foerster was able to return and finish Saturday night’s game. He played 18:17 minutes and scored a goal in the third period.
Foerster has been one of the club’s top forwards through 11 games. He has four goals, three assists and a plus-5 rating in 18:18 minutes per game.
Owen Tippett played in Foerster’s spot on the line with Noah Cates and Bobby Brink.
In good news for the Flyers, Sean Couturier returned to the lineup against the Flames after missing Saturday night’s game with an undisclosed injury.
