Catch up on the latest news about the Chicago Blackhawks and their recent games on this week’s Blackhawks On Tap.
Better late than never. This week’s Blackhawks On Tap is a day late, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t Hawks news to catch up on. The Chicago Blackhawks are three games into their six-game road trip and some pleasant roster moves were made. Let’s recap the week.

Tasting Flight – Game Recaps
The Blackhawks are in the midst of their first losing streak of the season. This road trip always felt like a litmus test of sorts regarding their early success. Given that the Blackhawks were performing much better than expected (a league-high 1.050 PDO last week), some form of regression was bound to happen. The good news? The Blackhawks haven’t looked horrible. The Hawks were in the game against the Jets, the Blackhawks took a very good Oilers team to overtime, and goaltender Joey Daccord stonewalled any Hawks scoring chances against Seattle. There have been far worse losing streaks in recent seasons.
Closing Time – News Recap
I guess it’s a good thing I waited a day late to do this, huh? The only news worth discussing came on Monday with a couple of roster moves (okay, we can throw Connor Bedard’s first hat trick here, too).

Bedard’s hat trick comes as a relief of sorts (see the Senators game recap above). With subpar linemates, we’ve had to see Bedard be the playmaker instead of goal scorer. He was drafted with his deadly wrist shot being his most dangerous tool. This season, he’s already shooting the puck at a much higher rate than last season—15.98 shot attempts/60 this season compared to 14.5. As Dave Melton from Second City Hockey pointed out, Bedard’s hat trick comes during a “Connor Bedard game” while we still wait for “THE Connor Bedard game.”
The biggest news of the previous week was Oliver Moore’s call-up. Moore has been tearing up the AHL (nine points in nine games) and has forced Kyle Davidson to give him a look at the NHL. Moore made his season debut against the Seattle Kraken last night.
With Moore up, and head coach Jeff Blashill playing 11 forwards and seven defensemen, a demotion was due for someone. That someone was Landon Slaggert, who was sent to Rockford following Moore’s call-up. Slaggert has had a slow start to the season and hasn’t done anything to prove otherwise.
Finally, Jason Dickinson is on injured reserve after battling a series of injuries. Dickinson has missed four games this season and, through his eight games, has a 58.41% expected goals share and three points.
What’s On Tap Next?
The Blackhawks have two games left in the week as they continue their six-game road trip. The Hawks are capable of winning both games as the two teams aren’t hard teams to beat. And yes, there’s a late start in there.
Wednesday, Nov. 5 @ Vancouver Canucks – 9:00 p.m. CT
Friday, Nov. 7 @ Calgary Flames – 8:00 p.m. CT
Let’s go Hawks!
