The Carolina Hurricanes (7-4-0) are in the “Big Apple” to do battle with the New York Rangers (6-5-2) on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Game time is 7 P.M.

These two teams seem to be on opposite paths as the Rangers have won three straight after a slow start where the Canes have lost three of their last four games.

Both teams are tied for third in the Metropolitan with 14 points. Both teams have the worst powerplay units in the league, (Rangers 31st and Canes 32nd).

Since Fred Andersen started the last game in Boston, it would seem that the backup goalie would start tonight and in this case it is likely to be Pyotr Kochetkov, who recently returned from a successful rehab stint in Chicago.

This would be his first start of the season for Carolina.

In an effort to shake things up a bit and to get a couple of players “going”, head coach Rod Brind’Amour has shaken the lines up. I would look for more “shaking” tonight if things start off badly.

Taylor Hall – Sebastian Aho – Andrei Svechnikov
Nikolaj Ehlers – Logan Stankoven – Jackson Blake
Jordan Martinook – Jordan Staal – Seth Jarvis
Jesperi Kotkaniemi – Mark Jankowski – Bradly Nadeau

Alexander Nikishin – Sean Walker
Jalen Chatfield – Joel Nystrom
Mike Reilly – Charles Alexis Legault

There is no update status of Carolina’s injured players. They were hoping that K’Andre Miller would be able to return soon, but he did not make the trip.

UPDATE: There is a report that Miller did indeed make the trip. No word on his status.

The Daily Faceoff has these lines for New York.

Artemi Panarin – J.T. Miller – Mika Zibanejad
Alexis Lafreniere – Noah Laba – Will Cuylle
Conor Sheary – Juuso Parssinen – Taylor Raddysh
Adam Edstrom – Sam Carrick – Jonny Brodzinski

Vladislav Gavrikov – Adam Fox
Carson Soucy – Will Borgen
Urho Vaakanainen – Braden Schneider
