“Well I think he has been a disappointment, I don’t think there’s any question about that and one of the key things in a star like this is consistency. Where is the consistency in his game and that’s something I’m sure they’re asking internally as well. You know, I do think that with Quinn Hughes returning, I think that helps Pettersson, but at the same time a lot of this is on him. A lot of this is on what he’s done or more importantly, what he hasn’t done and at some point, without trying to be overly aggressive about it, you have to try to say ‘hey, you know, pull up your socks, put your skates on and do your job, do your job’ and whether they’ve soft, I don’t believe they would have soft pedaled that to him. I believe that they would have been rather direct with him. I think that’s Adam Foote’s style and that’s exactly what has to happen.” Shannon said.
