Samuel Montembeault expected to start in net for the Montreal Canadiens tonight

Multiple sources have confirmed Montembeault as the starter, so we’re staying a bit cautious with our headline, but it really does seem like Dobes could start vs the Devils.

“Samuel Montembeault would be the starting goaltender tonight against the Flyers.

Jakub Dobes is therefore likely to face the Devils in New Jersey on Thursday.

I can understand the reasoning: Sending your “hot” goaltender against the big club.”

– Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

So we can forget about the “100% Czech” goalie duel between Jakub Dobes and Dan Vladar tonight!

Samuel Montembeault, 29 years old, has a 3-3-0 record this season, with a goals-against average of 3.66 and a more difficult save percentage of .839.

Over his NHL career, Montembeault has a 3.22 GAA and a .898 save percentage.

Jakub Dobes, 24 years old, has a 6-0-0 record this season, with a 1.97 goals-against average and an incredible .930 save percentage.

Over his NHL career, Dobes has a 2.52 GAA and a .915 save percentage.
