The Vancouver Canucks have sent down defensemen Kirill Kudryavtsev to the AHL, to the Abbotsford Canucks, he wasn’t dressing for Vancouver and GM Patrick Allvin saw no point in keeping with the big club.

“Kravtsov was given ample opportunity to prove himself throughout the team’s training camp and preseason games, but ultimately, he was placed on waivers and assigned to the American Hockey League to begin the 2025-26 season, but it didn’t go as anyone was hoping.”-Jaxon

Canucks send Kudryavtsev back down to AHL to further development

The Vancouver Canucks announced on X that they have sent Kudryavtsev down to Abbotsford today.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Kirill Kudryavtsev has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).

While Kudryavtsev has been developing very well since being drafted by the Canucks, he isn’t ready for NHL minutes just yet. After being only drafted in the 7th round, he has proved to be somewhat of a steal given his trajectory.

He immediately adapted to the AHL’s pace of play when he got to Abbotsford, showing offensive upside, while being rock solid on defence. He played in his NHL debut in April of last season, playing 13 minutes and looking like he is well on pace to being an NHL regular for the Canucks. He will need to continue refining his speed and physicality before that can happen however.

While the Canucks do not seem to show any promise yet this season, they have talent in the system that can improve them in the future.
