The Boston Bruins are winners of four straight thanks to Tuesday night’s thrilling shootout victory over the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Long Island.

The high-scoring affair did not start that way, as it took one full period and five minutes of the second to find the game’s first goal. Anthony Duclair got things started for the Isles, netting one off the draw from about 20 feet out, beating Jeremy Swayman blocker side.

Seven minutes later, Viktor Arvidsson would tie it up for the Bruins, but just 45 seconds after that, the Isles would retake the lead.

Late in the second period, Pavel Zacha would notch things at two with a power play goal, capitalizing on a juicy rebound. The scoring was on in Elmont.

The Isles quickly stole the lead in the third, but it was the 23-year-old former second-round pick who would force overtime for Boston, Marat Khusnutdinov.

Khusnutdinov is making a real habit out of scoring big-time goals so far this season. He has only lit the lamp two times, but the first was in a 3-on-3 overtime period to beat the Buffalo Sabres in TD Garden. The second was Tuesday at UBS to tie it up with less than five minutes to play.

But Khusnutdinov wasn’t done.

The former Minnesota Wild prospect took the ice with the game on his stick in the shootout.

After Casey Mittelstadt was stymied, Khustnutdinov was able to bury one top shelf to best Iyla Sorokin for the second time in the game.

Jeremy Swayman made all three saves to lock up the fourth straight win for the B’s.
