The St. Louis Blues have made their top forwards a healthy scratch, and it could signal a major future trade.

St. Louis is expected to make forward Jordan Kyrou a healthy scratch, with the 27-year-old likely to sit out for the Blues tonight against the Buffalo Sabres, according to Blues analyst and former NHLer Joe Vitale.

The team has not confirmed the news as accurate, but would make for a massive roster decision for the Blues who would be sitting out one of their top forwards, something that has come as a surprise for some.

According to David Pagnotta, fellow forward Oskar Sundqvist will also be a scratch for the Blues against the Buffalo Sabres.

Kyrou has four goals and eight points in 14 games this season for the Blues, who have a 4-8-2 record on the season for St. Louis, tied for last in the NHL with just 10 points.

The move could set up a potential trade, and may be a key option for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Blues Haven’t Explained Why Jordan Kyrou Was Scratched

The St. Louis Blues have scratched Jordan Kyrou, and it could open up a team to make a trade to a contending team for the struggling Blues.

Toronto head coach Craig Berube, who coached Kyrou while in charge of St. Louis, has a connection with his former player.

Kyrou, who has three back-to-back 30 goal seasons, is able to play as a center and a right winger, and his versatility would be a value to multiple teams, including Toronto.

Why Toronto May Be Paying Attention To Kyrou Being Scratched

The Toronto Maple Leafs could be one major options for a trade opportunity involving Jordan Kyrou.

Kyrou has been someone who in the past has been linked to Toronto, even though nothing has come from it in terms of concrete talks.Pavel Buchnevich is another name who could find his way out of St. Louis, but having only re-signed and on the first year of a new contract, is a challenge to move now.

If the Toronto Maple Leafs want a top forward with strong potential, they may be in the perfect position to do so for a player being signaled as expendable, and Toronto may want to act fast.
