In a tight game between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils, it was Jakub Dobes‘ reaction after the match that drew all the attention.

It really says a lot about the young goalie.

Last night’s game was close from start to finish. The Canadiens worked hard, found answers, and came back into the game twice.

However, everything came down to a single sequence. One lost puck, and it turned the tide.

It was in overtime that the difference was made.

Jakub Dobes goes through a tough moment after the game against the New Jersey Devils

Jesper Bratt intercepted a puck, broke away alone, and his backhand shot between the pads beat Dobes.

A goal that ended the game 4-3 for the Devils.

Red-eyed, his voice trembling, he clearly blamed himself.

He said, with difficulty:

“We played good enough to win. Just not good enough from my side. I don’t know, just really hard. This is a tough one. Just sucks…It happened last year, it happened this year… Just disappointed in myself…”

Reporters tried to reassure him, but it was clear that it affected him deeply.

I know he’s a young player who wants to do well and puts a lot of pressure on himself.

He wants to help his team, he wants to live up to expectations. And even though it was hard to watch, it also shows how much he truly cares about what he does.

Here’s what Tony Marinaro had to say on the subject:

“Dobes way too hard on himself after the game. The loss is not on him. Tough too watch his interview. The young man cares. Bigtime”

– Tony Marinaro

I sincerely believe that moments like this will help him move forward, not hold him back.
