The Toronto Maple Leafs placed goaltender Cayden Primeau on waivers Friday.

Primeau, 26, was acquired off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes prior to the start of the regular season.

The move comes a week after goalie Joseph Woll returned to the organization after taking a leave of absence for personal reasons.

Woll was placed on long-term injured reserve and assigned to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies on Friday for a conditioning stint.

The 6-foot-3 Primeau appeared in net three times for the Maple Leafs, going 2-1-0 with a 4.30 goals-against average and an.838 save percentage.

Drafted 199th overall by the Montreal Canadiens and has a career 15-25-7 record with a 3.73 GAA and an .882 save percentage split between the Canadiens and Maple Leafs.

Woll went 27-24-1 last season with a 2.73 goals-against average and.909 save percentage while splitting the starting goaltender duties with Anthony Stolarz.

He also went 3-4 in the playoffs with a 3.56 GAA and .886 save percentage after taking over the net from an injured Stolarz during the team’s second-round loss to the Florida Panthers.

Stolarz has been the primary starter for the Maple Leafs in Woll’s absence, going 6-4-1 with a 3.11 GAA and an .895 save percentage to start the season. He is also a winner of each of his last four starts.

Toronto sits in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with an 8-5-1 record and have back-to-back games over the weekend where they will face the Boston Bruins on Saturday and Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
