We can say that Jakub Dobes went through a very emotional moment after the Montreal Canadiens’ loss to the New Jersey Devils.

But it also drew reactions from analysts.

For many, Dobes didn’t need to carry all that weight on his own.

Indeed, according to him, Dobes was not responsible for this loss.

In his piece, he uses a powerful expression:

“Dry your tears.”

– François Gagnon

For Gagnon, the loss belongs to the whole team.

It’s hard to disagree with him.

“Jakub Dobes didn’t need to cry the way he did, because no – he’s not responsible for the overtime loss the Canadiens suffered.”

– François Gagnon

He says the Canadiens were a little slower – often arriving a second too late to the puck. Those small details made the difference in the game.

Dobes did slide a bit too much and probably would’ve liked to have a few saves back. But I don’t think it was a bad game on his part.

On the contrary, he kept his team in it for long stretches.

Gagnon also points out that Jacob Markstrom, on the other side, gave up two fairly easy goals. That’s what allowed the Canadiens to stay in the game – it puts things in perspective.

To me, Dobes’ reaction mainly shows how much he cares about his role. You can see a young goaltender who wants to perform well for his team. He feels the pressure of the jersey, and that’s normal.

With time, I truly believe that this kind of emotion can become a real strength.
