Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers ended their two-game road trip with four points after a 3-1 win against the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. While it was another case of the team overcoming a slow start, the Flyers continued to get pressure on the goalie by getting traffic and bodies in front.

In the game, Matevi Michkov had his season-low ice time. Despite that, Michkov tallied a goal, his first meaningful tally of the season. While ice-time continues to be a hurdle for the young star, you can feel a breakthrough coming.

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman released his latest edition of Written 32 Thoughts, and two points stuck out to me.

First of all, Friedman says that Trevor Zegras is an extension he is “wondering about.” Friedman would go on to say, “It looks like a good fit and I can see the Flyers gauging interest in lengthening the relationship.” This is something we’ll dive into soon.

The second mention is interesting to me. Friedman begins by talking about Erik Karlsson. Pittsburgh’s veteran blueliner has been playing well. Typically, the Flyers’ name has not been mentioned in Karlsson rumors. However, Friedman dropped this at the end: “the better he goes, the more options there could be — including finishing his term in Pennsylvania.“

It could very well be meaningless – it’s super possible he neglected the fact that there are two Pennsylvania NHL teams. On the flip side, was Friedman hinting at the Flyers’ possible interest in the 35-year-old defenseman?

NHL Rumors & News

One of, if not the most anticipated college hockey matchups in years, will take place in East Lansing, Michigan, on Friday night.

Flyers prospect Porter Martone and the No. 1-ranked Michigan State Spartans host projected top pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, Gavin McKenna, and the No. 3-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. The puck will drop at 7:00 p.m. EST at Munn Ice Arena, and the game will be aired on Big Ten Plus.

I know how I will be spending my Friday night.

TSN.ca: The St. Louis Blues sent a message on Thursday. For the first time in his career, Jordan Kyrou was a healthy scratch. It seemed more like a message to the team rather than Kyrou. However, whatever the message was worked as the Blues beat the Sabres 3-0.

BR Open Ice: Let’s get the Panarin to the Hurricanes rumors going! Once again, Carolina has been mentioned by Frank Seravalli as a team that just makes sense for the Rangers’ star.

Forever Blueshirts: Speaking of Panarin, the Bread Man has gone bald once again. The last time he shaved his head, Panarin had a career year. Could this be the spark the Rangers needed?
