Jordan Kyrou was scratched by the Blues on Thursday, and now Elliotte Friedman has leaked a major failed trade with the Seattle Kraken from the off-season.
The St. Louis Blues 2025/26 campaign has been off to a horror start, and after so much success down the stretch a season ago, clearly this isn’t what the organization were expecting as they looked to build on that success.
Following a 4-8-2 start to the season, the team made the shock call to scratch Jordan Kyrou for Thursday’s game, and after coming out victorious 3-0 in that matchup with Buffalo, talk has picked up about Kyrou’s future in St. Louis.
Elliotte Friedman Details Shock Failed Trade From The Summer
Now, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has detailed a failed trade involving Kyrou from the summer, as he revealed that he was almost dealt to the Seattle Kraken in a move that included Seattle’s No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
With that selection, the Kraken ended up taking the talented Jake O’Brien of the Brantford Bulldogs in the OHL, but in an alternate world, the team would have added a veteran star up front in Kyrou, and while Friedman doesn’t reveal the whole trade, it would have been a surprise one.
It’s likely that the Kraken were the ones that backed out of this deal, as the No. 8 overall pick for Kyrou and his deal would have been a great move for the Blues, and even though he’s got 4 goals and 8 points in 14 games played thus far, the future of Kyrou in St. Louis is now a major story to watch moving forward.
