Utah Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong took a shot at the former ownership of the Arizona Coyotes and the minuscule facilities the team had to use that was often the butt of jokes around the NHL.

The long experiment that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman seemingly refused to let die for so long finally came to a close before last season, as the Arizona Coyotes finally relocated to Salt Lake City.

They spent their 1st year in Salt Lake City simply known as the Utah Hockey Club, though they have since been rebranded to the Utah Mammoth. Since then, they have also completed a multi-million dollar renovation of Delta Center while also opening a new state of the art training facility.

GM Bill Armstrong took a bit of a swipe at their former situation in Arizona when they were limited to using Mullett Arena, home of the Arizona State Sun Devils, a building that didn’t even seat 5,000 fans and had extremely limited dressing room space.

We have a TV set in the video room where the players meet every morning that is probably worth more than our entire facility was in Arizona. – Bill Armstrong

The Utah Mammoth Are On Pace For Over 100 Points

The Mammoth have been one of the surprise storylines in the NHL season so far, as they’re on pace for 105 points.

It would represent their 1st trip back to the postseason if they can maintain this pace since 2020 when they were known as the Coyotes.

Armstrom has slowly but surely built a solid foundation of young and veteran leadership, and it’s paying off with their record so far that has them tied for second place in the Central Division with the Colorado Avalanche.
