Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – The Minnesota Wild couldn’t overcome a disastrous opening frame, falling 4-3 to the Carolina Hurricanes at Lenovo Center on Thursday night.

Carolina jumped out to an early lead by scoring three times in the first period, putting the Wild in a hole they would never fully escape. Minnesota spent the majority of the final two periods playing from behind.

Matt Boldy led the Wild’s offensive charge with a two-goal performance, while defenseman Brock Faber also found the back of the net.

The Wild will look to bounce back quickly as they head to UBS Arena to face the New York Islanders tonight. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
