Calgary Flames defenceman Zayne Parekh is week-to-week according to head coach Ryan Huska.
The rookie blueliner left Friday’s 4-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks with an upper-body injury. He was not at Calgary’s morning skate Saturday and Huska told reporters after the game Friday he was going to miss “a little bit of time.”
Defenceman Daniil Miromanov was recalled from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers on Saturday, the team announced.
Parekh, 19, from Markham, Ont., left midway through the second period after taking a hit from veteran Blackhawks forward Nick Foligno.
Parekh had 6:25 of ice time before exiting.
Selected ninth overall by the Flames in 2024, Parekh has recorded one assist over 11 games this season after scoring one goal in his lone NHL game last year.
Meanwhile, Huska did not have an update on forward Martin Pospisil but according to TSN’s Salim Valji, it sounds like he’s close to making his season debut.
The 25-year-old had four goals and 25 points in 81 games for the Flames last season.
