The Islanders and Rangers have their first meeting of the season in Manhattan tonight, with both teams playing the second half of a back-to-back.
In theory the Isles have the advantage, since they played at home (but poorly) last night, while the Rangers are coming back from Detroit, where they beat the Red Wings handily.
Both combatants are among the eight teams that are currently outside of the Eastern playoff spots and separated by two points or less. There could be a lot of meh-ness in the East this season, but at least it will be competitive meh-ery.
It’s the first derby game for Schaefer, too, so it should be exciting to see how our new additions take to the atmosphere on a Saturday night.
Sorokin will be in net after David Rittich handled last night’s sleeper Faceoff is theoretically 7 p.m. EST at the World’s Most Self-Congatulatory Arena.
