Canucks AHL Affiliate ‘Literally Running Out of Players’: Forced to Use Emergency Goalie

The Abbotsford Canucks, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, are down multiple players because of various injuries and even had to use an Emergency Backup Goalie in a recent game.
There are plenty of things going wrong right now with the Abbotsford Canucks, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, who are at the bottom of the AHL standings.
Abbotsford, who are the reining Calder Cup champions, have lost nine straight games after winning their opening pair of games, and they have a stunning number of players who are unavailable because of injury.They were also recently forced to use Emergency Backup Goaltender C.J. Kier against the Colorado Screaming Eagles after Ty Young went down with an injury of his own.After Jiri Patera was called up to the Canucks, it left only Young and Nikita Tolopilo as the goalies on the Abbotsford roster. They also have been forced to call up Aku Koskenvuo from the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings.
The multiple injuries of the Vancouver Canucks have started to affect their minor league clubs, and it shows by the absences on their rosters.
The Vancouver Canucks Have Multiple Injuries Of Their Own
The Canucks lost forward Filip Chytil, who had three goals in six games, after a huge hit from Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson.They also have been without Teddy Blueger and Jonathan Lekkerimaki, both of whom are not quite yet ready per the latest report from first year Canucks head coach Adam Foote.Additionally, the Canucks don’t have Nils Hoglander available after he suffered an ankle injury during the preseason; his expected time of recovery was initially listed as 8-10 weeks.
