The Boston Bruins were without some key players in their 5-3 road win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Boston was without star defenseman Charlie McAvoy due to a personal matter, while forward Casey Mittelstadt was out of the lineup due to an injury.
With McAvoy out of the lineup, Mason Lohrei returned to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the past five games.
“Getting ready for the game, I was pretty excited just to be back and playing again,” Lohrei said, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage on Saturday. “You are always kind of part of the group, so this winning streak has been fun no matter what.
“It’s tough, obviously you want to be in, but just go day by day and just get ready for your next opportunity. It’s something I’ve been through before at every level, so I guess I know the recipe.”

Lohrei finished the game having 14:49 of ice time, recording one shot on goal, one hit, and one blocked shot. He played on the Bruins’ third-pairing with Jonathan Aspirot.
Although Lohrei returned to the lineup and played well, whether or not he will stay in the lineup once McAvoy is back is to be seen.
With the win, the Bruins improved to 10-7-0 on the season and are in second place in the Atlantic Division. Boston will return to the ice on Tuesday at home against the Maple Leafs.
