UXBRIDGE, Mass. — The Uxbridge field hockey team is going for its fifth straight MIAA state championship, with an MIAA Division 3 state quarterfinal against Scituate looming at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

The 20-0 Spartans shut out Marlborough 9-0 on Wednesday night in the round of 16. Amelia Blood and Julianna Casucci each scored three goals to lead Uxbridge.

“I think the win tonight was very rewarding,” Uxbridge captain Kendall Gilmore said. “I think it just showed all the work we put in all season at practice, and I just think it’s a rewarding feeling to get that outcome.”

Scituate, the No. 8 seed, is 14-6-2 this season, defeating Ursuline Academy and Saint Mary’s to reach the round of eight.

The winner of Wednesday’s game faces either Medfield or Watertown in the semifinal round.
