A new statement by Detroit Red Wings’ Dylan Larkin reveals this highly skilled forward is taking accountability for the organization’s recent struggles.Frustrations were extremely high for the Detroit Red Wings following their 5-1 loss against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, November 9, at the Little Caesars Arena.
This is mostly due to the fact that this organization is in the midst of pursuing breaking their nine-year postseason absence, yet they are evidently struggling to hold their own as of late.
At this time, Detroit is sitting right outside of a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference division with a 9-7-0 record.
That said, new insight has surfaced regarding Detroit Red Wings’ highly skilled talent, Dylan Larkin, and his perspective regarding the organization’s recent struggles.
Dylan Larkin takes major accountability for Detroit Red Wings’ recent struggles
The last person that many would think to blame for the Detroit Red Wings’ recent struggles would be Dylan Larkin.
Yet, Larkin himself has targeted him as a culprit, as he expresses he’s lacked faceoff wins and not buried some chances.
«Starts with the faceoff, which I take most of the time, and not winning them,» Larkin said. «And we’re going down 200 feet and that’s on me and got to win the first battle of the two minutes. Last year when we were good (on the power play), this year even when we had it going good we were winning those draws and attacking and getting the kill on their heels.»
«We have a good power play, and we have the personnel,» Larkin said. «We showed it not just over a few games, but over years. We just got to figure it out. We got to go over (the boards) with a purpose.»
The Red Wings are also not producing enough five-on-five, either.
They’ve scored just two goals in their past three games and six in their previous five.
«I have two back-door (chances) in two nights and zero goals to show for that,» Larkin said. «That’s on me. People look to me to score and look to the big guys to score, and I think I would point the finger at myself and try to put the puck in the back of the net in those key situations and off of good plays.»
Do you think Dylan Larkin is responsible for the Red Wings’ recent offensive struggles?
