The Detroit Red Wings face the Chicago Blackhawks today at 1:00 PM EST. The Red Wings are coming off a 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Friday night. Ahead of this afternoon’s game the Detroit Red Wings announced that they’ve recalled forward Nate Danielson from Grand Rapids of the AHL.

Danielson started the season on IR after he suffered an undisclosed injury during a preseason game on September 26th. Danielson impressed before the injury and seemed likely to make the opening night roster out of camp. When he was activated off IR he was sent to the AHL. In four games for the Griffins this season, he has five points, including a goal and four assists, and is a plus-two.

Nate Danielson

The Red Wings drafted Danielson ninth overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. In 2023-24, he played in 54 games between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL. Danielson had 67 points between the two teams on 24 goals and 43 assists. He was a +26 with two power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and three game-winning goals. He joined to Griffins for the Calder Cup Playoffs playing in two games, but he didn’t record a point and finished as a minus-one. Last season he played in 71 games for Grand Rapids recording 39 points on 12 goals and 27 assists. He was a plus-four with two power-play goals and two game-winning goals. In there’s Calder Cup Playoffs games last season he scored a goal and finished as a minus-four.
