The Avs won again in Vancouver, and Gavin Brindley was the hero. Also, the next generation of superstars are all willing their teams to relevance.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — November 10.
Colorado Hockey Now
Fresh off a nine-goal outburst against the Oilers, the Avs got going quickly against the Canucks and it was all thanks to another two quick goals from MacKinnon. Colorado’s top superstar scored twice in the third period on Saturday and twice in the first period on Sunday.
He’s up to a league-leading 14 goals in 16 games after scoring seven in seven playoff games.
But the hero in OT was Brindley, who has four points in his last four games and got a chance to play with MacKinnon. He made the most of it.
Has the 21-year-old proven that he’s ready for a bigger role?

Around The NHL
San Jose Hockey Now: Aside from keeping tabs on the No. 1 seed Avalanche, my favorite teams to follow this season are Anaheim, San Jose, and Chicago. And it’s because of the kids — the next generation of superstars that are all stepping up at the same time.
In San Jose, it’s Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. In Ahaheim, it’s Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Beckett Sennecke. And I’ll get to Chicago below.
As for the Sharks, they’ve got the playoffs on their mind. Who would’ve thought that this would even be a possibility?
Chicago Hockey Now: Connor Bedard started Sunday in third place in the NHL points race. But another big game against the Red Wings pushed him to first before Nathan MacKinnon quicky passed him with two first-period goals.
Bednard and the Blackhawks have won three straight games. Shout out to Andre Burakovsky, who has found new life this season with the Hawks.
Detroit Hockey Now:Â After yet another brutal loss, the Wings are exactly who we thought they were. At least Nate Danielson looked solid in his NHL debut.
Florida Hockey Now:Â Yet another long-term injury for the Panthers.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now:Â Another loss for the Pens in yet another winnable game. Is their early-season luck running out?
