Happy Double Victory Monday! Both the Bears and Blackhawks earned key victories on Sunday to extend their respective winning streaks. Caleb Williams marched the Bears to a late comeback over the New York Giants, which moves them to 6-3 on the season. Connor Bedard tallied another three points as the Blackhawks bested the Detroit Red Wings 5-1, and they’re now 8-5-3 through 16 games. It’s finally fun to be a Chicago sports fan again.

Also in Blackhawks news, Roman Kantserov seemingly can’t be stopped over in Russia, while the Rockford IceHogs defeated the Iowa Wild to avoid a weekend sweep.

Around the league, Nathan MacKinnon racked up five points in the Avalanche’s OT win, Leo Carlsson extended his point streak to ten games, and Sergei Murashov made his NHL debut for the Penguins.

Chicago Hockey Now: What a fun afternoon in Detroit! Connor Bedard extended his point streak to eight games, Arvid Soderblom made a career-high 45 saves, and Oliver Moore scored his first NHL goal in a 5-1 win over the Red Wings! Here are all the takeaways from the Chicago Blackhawks’ third consecutive victory.

More CHN: ICYMI, the Blackhawks streamrolled the Calgary Flames 4-0 on Friday night. Connor Bedard picked up his second four-point performance in 11 days, which momentarily tied him for the NHL lead in points. Spencer Knight also earned his first shutout with Chicago, stopping all 33 shots faced.

In prospects news, Roman Kantserov‘s scoring-hot start to the year continues, as the 21-year-old scored his KHL-leading 16th goal of the season on Sunday. Kantserov also added an assist and now has 27 points through 25 games. He’s second in the league in points.

In the OHL, Marek Vanacker kept up his goal-per-game pace on Sunday, as he scored his 17th goal of the season in his 17th game for the Brantford Bulldogs. Vanacker leads the OHL in goals and is 11th with 24 points. Brantford won the game 4-3 in a shootout.

Down in the AHL, Landon Slaggert scored his first AHL goal of the season in the Rockford IceHogs’ 3-2 win over the Iowa Wild. Captain Brett Seney tallied three points, Kevin Korchinski had two assists, and Stanislav Berezhnoy stopped 28 shots in his return from injury.

The Athletic: Gavin McKenna, the projected top overall selection in the 2026 NHL Draft, has recorded 14 points (4G, 10A) through his first 12 NCAA games with Penn State. McKenna faced his biggest test of his freshman season over the weekend as he battled against Michigan State, where the star forward considered playing his first and likely only year of college hockey. The Spartan faithful let McKenna hear it this weekend, and he was also under some scrutiny from scouts because of his performance.

NHL.com: Nathan MacKinnon was involved in all five of the Colorado Avalanche’s goals in a 5-4 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. MacKinnon had two goals and three assists, which vaults him ahead of Connor Bedard and into the lead for most points in the NHL this season.

Colorado Hockey Now: Speaking of the Colorado Avalanche, Gavin Brindley netted the overtime winner against the Canucks for his second goal in two games. Aarif Deen from CHN writes it’s safe to assume the 21-year-old forward has arrived for the Avs.

More NHL.com: Leo Carlsson extended his point streak to ten games with a pair of goals in the Anaheim Ducks’ 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Carlsson, the second overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, is now tied with the first overall selection, Connor Bedard, for second-most points in the league this season.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Pittsburgh Penguins top goalie prospect Sergei Murashov made his NHL debut against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. Murashov stopped 24 of 27 shots faced, but he couldn’t save the Penguins from a few too many lapses.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Arseny Gritsyuk seemingly can’t do wrong right now with the New Jersey Devils. But the 24-year-old Russian forward still has more to offer the Devils.
