At Long Last: Connor Bedard

After years of torment, Chicago Blackhawks fans finally have hope. Chicago is off to their best start since 2016 with an 8-5-3 record, good enough for third place in the Central Division. The catalyst of this joyous mood throughout Chicagoland and beyond is Connor Bedard. The former first overall pick more than lived up to the billing. After a slow night with only one assist against the Seattle Kraken, Bedard was able to give himself 2 points against his boyhood team, the Vancouver Canucks.

Two nights later, Connor Bedard went absolutely nuclear. Four points in a dominant win against the Calgary Flames after his Partner in Crime, Frank Nazar, went down early with an injury.  Bedard didn’t just get garbage points; he set up his teammates (and himself) directly. Not just over the past week, but over the last eight games, Bedard has only recorded Primary Points. Not a single secondary assist to his name. His ability to create chances has opened more scoring opportunities for the former child prodigy. It’s all coming together for not just the 20-year-old forward, but the city as well.
