Vancouver Canucks forward Linus Karlsson opened up about fighting to remain in the team’s lineup as their roster slowly returns to full health after several injuries.Due to the team’s injury issues, they’ve had to rely on a number of players from the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Canucks including Linus Karlsson, who had an unbelievable run in the Calder Cup Playoffs in the spring and knew he could make an impact in the NHL right out of camp.

“I think I have a lot of good things in my game. I’m just trying to show them that they can’t take me out of the lineup. That’s just my goal. Like, it’s time to make that roster, now. I felt pretty good this camp. So I’ll just try to bring that recent confidence into the next coming days.” Karlsson said in September.

It’ll still be quite a while before we see Vancouver’s roster at full strength, giving players such as Linus Karlsson an opportunity to prove that they belong in the National Hockey League.

Last night, Karlsson scored his first of the season – which could end up going down as the goal of the season – and just his fourth since making his NHL debut during the 2023-24 campaign.

“LINUS KARLSSON WITH A BETWEEN-THE-LEGS BEAUTY! 🤩”

After the game, Karlsson spoke about this season so far and said that he’s happy with what he’s been able to do despite being on the fourth line where he’s played limited minutes.

“It’s tough sometimes to be playing like seven, eight minutes. And, we just try to give everything we have in those shifts.” Karlsson said.

He added, “When we get out there with six, seven minutes left of course, that’s really fun to be out there when it matters.”

In the weeks ahead, Patrik Allvin and Adam Foote will be forced to make some difficult decisions with the team’s roster as everyone returns to full health and if Karlsson finds himself on the outside looking in and the club wants him to get top minutes in the AHL, he’ll need to go on waivers, where there’s no guarantee that he’ll clear.
