NEWARK, NJ — Make-A-Wish and the Devils Youth Foundation recently teamed up to give three young people a hockey-themed experience of a lifetime in New Jersey.

Three eager fans – Natalie, Giovanni and Darby – and their families got the chance to attend a Devils’ practice and home game at the Prudential Center in Newark last weekend, courtesy of the team and Fanatics, the official sports partner of Make-A-Wish.

The three young sports fans had expressed a heartfelt desire to meet the team. Fifteen-year-old Natalie, who plays for the Northern Lakes Lightning hockey team in Minnesota, is bravely facing cancer. Twelve-year-old Giovanni, diagnosed with a gastrointestinal disorder, has been cheering for the Devils his entire life and enjoys rollerblading and swimming. Nineteen-year-old Darby, who lives with a heart condition, finds joy in crocheting and reading.

On Friday, the three Make-A-Wish recipients took a trip to the Prudential Center to watch the Devils practice. Each got a chance to skate on the ice and meet the team – and got some personalized jerseys and gifts to take home.

The next day, the young sports fans attended a Devils game, watching the team warm up from the bench and taking a Zamboni ride during intermission.

“We are honored to welcome Natalie, Giovanni, Darby and their families for two days of joy, cherished memories, and unforgettable moments with their favorite Devils players during challenging times,” said Kate Whitman Annis, executive director of the Devils Youth Foundation.
