Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night, dropping the overtime game 2-1. The game started even before the Oilers took control. A Matvei Michkov power-play goal in the second period brought the Flyers right back into the game. The Flyers even completely flipped the momentum at one point.
It had looked like the Flyers would sneak out with the win after Travis Konecny redirected a shot for a goal with 23.5 seconds remaining on the clock. However, a quick review showed that Owen Tippett was offside, which wiped out the goal. The game would go into overtime, where the Oilers would capitalize on a critical mistake in the Flyers’ defensive zone.
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Flyers. However, there were clear signs of a step in the right direction for the Flyers.
