The best player in the world is back in action on Thursday night, as Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers pay a visit to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
This is the second time this week the two teams have faced off. The Blue Jackets looked like they had a chance to send the Oilers to another loss. However, lucky bounces, some McDavid magic and an overtime goal led to Edmonton rallying to pick up a much-needed 5-4 victory.
The Oilers entered the 2025-26 season looking to continue their winning ways, having advanced to back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals. However, that has not led to a promising start, as Edmonton’s October woes continued this year, with many concerned about the team’s lack of efficiency in the first month of the regular season.
The Oilers are getting ready for the second half of a back-to-back, as the team picked up an overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night.
The Blue Jackets are playing around .500 hockey, but with how good the Eastern Conference is, and how tough the Metropolitan Division can be, they are sitting near the bottom of the East. Columbus is looking to continue on the winning track after pulling out a shootout win over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
