The Detroit Red Wings got off to a hot start in the 2025-26 regular season. They started 8-3-0 in their first 11 games. Since then, they’ve gone 1-4-0. They’ve already been linked to several players this season as they try to end their ten-year playoff drought. One name to watch that has come up is Cam Talbot, who is in the last year of his deal. He doesn’t have a no no-trade protection. David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period mentioned a team to watch is the Edmonton Oilers. The addition of goalie John Gibson and the fact of Talbot being a free agent following the season make this a possibility. The Red Wings also have goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa in the AHL, and he could be ready to come up and take over the backup role behind Gibson.
