Charlie Coyle scored the deciding shootout goal, and Adam Fantilli scored in regulation as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Seattle Kraken 2-1 on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena to snap a four-game losing streak.
Jet Greaves made 22 saves.
Ryan Winterton started the scoring for Seattle in the first period. Matt Murray made 33 saves. Eeli Tolvanen scored the lone shootout goal for the Kraken.
The #CBJ last faced Murray on October 5, 2019.
Boone Jenner, Elvis Merzlikins and Zach Werenski were the only current Blue Jackets on that team.

“Just a sigh of relief after a long road trip and finally getting a win and getting two points,” Coyle said. “That’s the hardest games to get the points, and we got them. We’re capable.
“Not every road trip is going to go as planned, and we can correct some things and learn from it. To battle back like that and get three out of four on the last two…depends on how you look at it. Take the positives.”
With a flu bug swirling around the Blue Jackets dressing room, it was unknown until warmups who would even be able to play on Tuesday. Jet Greaves made his second straight start, ending the alternating goaltending duo with Evlis Merzlikins. Kent Johnson and Zac Aston-Reese did not play as Cole Sillinger and Miles Wood re-entered the lineup. Damon Severson played in his 800th career game. Boone Jenner left the game with an upper-body injury and did not return.
The win allows Columbus to keep pace with the Washington Capitals as both teams have 17 points at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. One point separates fourth and eighth place.

1st Period:
(16:43 — SEA Goal): The Kraken took a 1-0 lead when Ben Meyers walked in front of the net and dished the puck to Winterton for the one-time shot and score. Jamie Oleksiak picked up the secondary assist.

2nd Period:
(18:22 — CBJ Goal): Fantilli scored his second goal in as many days on the power play to tie the game 1-1. The goal snapped a 0-for-10 stretch on the power play during the road trip entering play. Kirill Marchenko picked up an assist to stretch his career-high nine-game point streak. Sean Monahan added an assist.

With Johnson out of the lineup, Fantili was moved up to the first power play unit.
Shootout:
Greaves stopped three of four shooters in his first career shootout while Marchenko and Coyle scored the shootout tallies to seal the victory and end a tough road trip on a high note.
