Entering the NBA season, the Dallas Mavericks were seen as a sleeper in the Western Conference. The roster is loaded with talent, and the team was able to draft rookie sensation Cooper Flagg out of Duke University.
However, things haven’t quite gone the way that anyone would have expected so far. Dallas currently is one of the worst teams in the entire NBA, and the wheels have started to come off the wagon very quickly.
There are a multitude of reasons why the Mavericks have started so slowly, but this team expects more from its players. It has been a tough start, but there is still time to turn things around before it’s too late.
One reason why Dallas has struggled is that guard Klay Thompson has looked like a shell of himself, and this has impacted the team greatly. Dallas has even benched Thompson, and it remains to be seen if he will be given his role back.
Due to the struggles that the overall team has seen, it could force the Mavericks’ front office to make some moves at the upcoming NBA trade deadline. The team has a few players that could be of interest to others around the NBA, and Dallas could set itself up well for the future.
One of those is Thompson, but it remains to be seen if the Mavericks will move him. However, weirder things have happened before, so nothing is out of the realm of possibility.Â
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Klay Thompson Traded Over to Minnesota Timberwolves
One option for the Mavericks, if things continue to go south for them, could be to move on from Thompson. It has been a very rough season to start for the former NBA champion, and it could see Dallas look to trade him ahead of the deadline.
While Thompson has struggled this season, his skillset and history could have other teams interested in seeing what it may take to land him. One of those teams could be the Minnesota Timberwolves, who desperately need more help and depth in the backcourt.
Minnesota has reached the Western Conference Finals in two consecutive seasons, but they have fallen short both times. Adding someone like Thompson, who knows how to win a title, could be a smart play, and it would give this team more title experience.
Thompson may just need a change of scenery, and Minnesota could be the place to make it happen. The veteran could be energized to play alongside someone like Anthony Edwards, and it could help reignite his career, even for a little bit.
Thompson has two years left on his current deal, and this could offer the Timberwolves the chance to trade him next summer if things didn’t work out. Since he would be an expiring deal, there may be some squads that could use him as salary relief.Â
This all remains to be seen, but Minnesota could be a strong landing spot for the veteran guard. The Timberwolves have to do something to push closer to a title, and adding more experience could help.
