For most of their second-period fight, Tanner Jeannot and Kurtis McDermid neutralized each other on Thursday in Ottawa.

McDermid sought out the fight, trying to rally his teammates after the Senators came out flat in the second period despite a two-goal lead over the Bruins.

Jeannot, who has one previous fight this year — against Anaheim’s Ross Johnston, obliged.

The two forwards landed nothing more than short half-jabs with their jersey-gripping hands for most of the skirmish.

But before the linesmen jumped in, Jeannot sold out for one big hand. Whether it was the landed punch or simply his swing momentum, Jeannot brought McDermid down with 5:20 left in the second period.
