Red Wings: John Gibson’s status, what led to victory against Ducks
Detroit Red Wings Alex DeBrincat, Moritz Seider & Todd McLellan, Nov. 13, 2025 in Detroit.
John Gibson was back at practice with the Detroit Red Wings the day after leaving a game because of injury.
There was no immediate word on his status, but at the very least it is an encouraging sign that he manned one of the nets during practice on Friday, Nov. 14. He left Thursday’s 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks after two periods with what coach Todd McLellan said was an “upper-body issue.”
The Wings (10-7-0) play again Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres, and Sunday at the New York Rangers.
Cam Talbot had the other net in practice.
It’s a fortunate outcome for the Wings if Gibson does not miss any time. In the minors, both Sebastian Cossa and Michal Postiva are dealing with their own injuries, leaving Carter Gylander and Dustin Tokarski, the latter of whom was just signed to a professional tryout contract.
