Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said that forward Jason Zucker‘s illness has kept him from eating solid food and that he’s lost a considerable amount of weight during his absence from play.

It’s not a good situation for the Buffalo Sabres right now, who have been missing forward Jason Zucker for over a week now.

Zucker contracted a viral illness and, per a report from head coach Lindy Ruff, he’s been unable to eat solid food during that time and he’s also lost a “considerable amount” of weight.

The Zucker one has been a crazy one. It’s one of those crazy viral sicknesses. One of our coaches had a conversation with him (on Monday), and he hasn’t had an solid food for nine days and has gone through every type of testhe’s down a considerable amount of weight and when he does start feeling better, it’s going to take a real good period of time to get him back and up-and-running. – Lindy Ruff

Zucker had seven points (4G, 3A) in the 12 games he played before contracting the illness.

The Sabres clearly miss him, as they’re in last place in the Atlantic Division.
