SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Mammoth looks to build off its last win as it stays at home to host the New York Islanders tonight.

After losing three straight and five of its last six, the Mammoth picked up a much-needed win over the Buffalo Sabres at home on Wednesday. All but one of those losses came on the road. Utah still boasts an impressive 5-1 record in front of the home fans.

The Islanders’ season has looked a lot different to this point. In October, they suffered two different three-game skids and started at a deficit in the Metropolitan Division. Coming into this matchup, they have won three in a row and five of their last seven.

First Period

Great start for the Mammoth through the first few minutes here.

Energy throughout all 4 lines and 6 shots on goal already. They look more like the team who scored 4 unanswered against Buffalo in the third period the other night.

Utah had a short power play, but Cooley was then called for hooking.

4 on 4 hockey for 1:42.

Islanders score a wild goal.

Loose puck in the low slot gets batted in by Heineman with only one hand on his stick.

Took Vejmelka by surprise.

1-0 NYI.

NICK SCHMALTZ SCORES AND UTAH TIES THE GAME 1-1!!!!!!!

What a shift from the top line to keep the puck alive, wait for the right play to develop, crash the net, and put it away.

This goal is being reviewed to make sure it crossed the line. https://t.co/7jBAVjEtZk

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) November 15, 2025

The goal was reviewed, and they determined that it never crossed the line.

No goal.

Islanders lead 1-0 still. https://t.co/7jBAVjEtZk

JJ PETERKA SCORES ON A REDIRECT FROM LAWSON CROUSE AND THE MAMMOTH TIE THINGS UP!!!!!

That one will count!

1-1

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) November 15, 2025

Just a filthy setup from Marino and Crouse.

Cross ice pass, great vision from Crouse, and an easy one for Peterka to redirect.

1-1 in SLC! https://t.co/sDCVivfzwC

Utah is called for too many men on the ice.

Islanders PP on deck.

DYLAN GUENTHER SCORES FROM HIS OFFICE AND UTAH TAKES A 2-1 LEAD!!!!

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) November 15, 2025

As soon as Guenther laid that puck off and went to work you knew where it would end up.

Big goal for 11 and the PP. https://t.co/VXRlESYjEM

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) November 15, 2025

Both Guenther and Utah’s power play needed that goal so bad.

First PP goal since the Jets on 10/26.

They’d missed on their previous 15 chances.

First goal for Guenther since Toronto on 11/5.

Second Period

Islanders are absolutely buzzing to start this second period.

Harsh on the forecheck, stretch passes, several dangerous chances.

Utah needs to respond here. Match the tempo.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) November 15, 2025

Islanders just had two Grade A chances right in the low slot.

Both unmarked.

Luckily for Utah, they sailed over the top.

— Cole Bagley (@BagleyKSLsports) November 15, 2025

Sergachev just absorbed a slapshot to one of his legs.

He limped to the bench. Trainer is looking at him.

Back out there.

Seems to be just fine. https://t.co/BUXSDgE3Od

Cooley returns to the box for hooking.

Second penalty for him tonight, same call.

Islanders PP on deck.
