The Maple Leafs are reportedly targeting Rasmus Andersson in a deal with the Flames, and now a top Insider has revealed the major asking price from Calgary.Recently, reports out of Toronto revealed that Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs are targeting Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, with Treliving looking to land a player he once drafted in the second round.
While the fit of Andersson in Toronto is a fantastic one, there’s some major roadblocks in getting a potential deal done, as there is still bad blood between Treliving and the Flames, with the Maple Leafs also having very few assets to land the star blue liner.

As a result of both of those things, the Flames are likely going to force Toronto to blow them away with an offer, and according to Darren Dreger on the Barn Burner podcast, the asking price would likely include star winger Matthew Knies.
If you’re Craig Conroy…you’re asking for Matthew Knies, or you’re asking for something like that; if you’re Toronto…a contract extension would have to be part of it.
That doesn’t mean that Flames GM Craig Conroy believes he could land Knies, but given the ‘Treliving tax’ that surrounds Toronto in any deal with Calgary, it makes sense for them to seek the biggest deal possible for Andersson.
Simply put, in Treliving’s tenure in Toronto, he’s been in on Nikita Zadorov, Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin, but has yet to get a deal done with the Flames, and while there’s potentially a deal to be done here, it’s likely that asking for Knies will kill any possible trade between these two teams.
