The Montreal Canadiens are making some major changes to their lineup after they were embarrassed by the Dallas Stars 7-0 on home ice on Thursday.
Nothing went right for the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night against the Dallas Stars, who beat them 7-0 in their worst shutout loss on home ice in years.
The Canadiens also lost forward Alex Newhook to what could be a brutal injury. In his place, they brought up forward Jared Davidson from the AHL affiliate Laval Rocket.
It will be the NHL debut for Davidson, who was taken with the 130th pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and so far this year has 11 points (9G, 2A) in 13 games with the Rocket.
Per Canadiens analyst Eric Engels, the Canadiens are moving forward with the following lines tonight as comprised by head coach Martin St. Louis against the divisional foe Boston Bruins after the top line with captain Nick Suzuki.
Bolduc-Evans-Anderson
Demidov-Kapanen-Dach
Davidson-Veleno-Gallagher
The Canadiens are going to need to bounce back in a big way so not to let the bad habits from Thursday’s game continue.
The Canadiens Say They Didn’t Help Out Their Goalies
After the embarrassing loss to the Stars, forward Josh Evans said that the onus is on the team to help our their goaltenders more and that they weren’t responsible for the loss.
We haven’t helped them out. We know they’re both great goalies and we’re 100-per-cent confident in them every game. (Thursday) night was a couple of weird bounces, but mostly we just gave up Grade A chances and they capitalized. So it’s not on the goalies – it’s on the team in front of them.
Right now, the Canadiens are tied for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.
