Respected Rangers insider Vince Z. Mercogliano has just made a massive announcement regarding the New York Rangers and their next head coach.
Earlier on Monday morning, Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins decided it was time to move on from head coach Mike Sullivan, who has been with the team for a decade:
Mike Sullivan becomes the New York Rangers number one priority
Several reports surfaced indicating that the Rangers would likely try to get Sullivan signed before the end of this week or according to Frank Seravalli, within just a few days of the announcement:
«I’ve gotten messages from NHL general managers already this morning saying ‘Does Mike Sullivan end up in New York today or tomorrow?’ I think it is one of those things that could be locked up within the next 42 to 78 hours,»
Along with that, Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the New York Rangers desperately want Sullivan and that he can’t imagine the Rangers organization letting any other organization to outdo them:
«I cannot imagine [the New York Rangers] allowing anyone to outdo themselves in the pursuit of Sullivan,»
Vince Z. Mercogliano issues massive update on the Rangers hunt for their next coach
Just a few moments ago, Vince issues a pretty significant update on the New York Rangers and there hunt for their next coach.
As he stated nothing has been confirmed by the Rangers organization, but he’s hearing that Mike Sullivan will likely become the New York Rangers 38th head coach in franchise history.
Pretty exciting news, but now all we have to do is wait for the officially confirmation announcement from the Rangers themselves.
